Paris

Ah, Paree in September, 2023!! We whipped out our 4-day all inclusive Paris Pass, walked over to Gare Montparnesse (the Montparnasse train station) and stood with our mouths open, not knowing where to begin! It is a shopping mall, a train station and a subway metro station all in one and quite loud with hundreds of people scurrying to and fro.

We watched fellow wannabe subway passengers buy tickets from the electronic ticket machines but when our turn came we were clueless! So we headed over to the ticket office. They sent us back to the machines! So we walked back outside and took a cab to the Eiffel Tower area.

The Paris Pass (now known as the Go City Paris Pass) provides entry into about 80 attractions in Paris and at many of the sites allows to skip the entrance lines. We unfortunately entered into the Eiffel Tower grounds furtherest away from the entrance but enjoyed our wandering around. And the Paris Pass was wonderful in allowing us a quicker entrance to the tower. After 674 steps we walked out to the second floor viewing area to see the panoramic view of the city.

Tasco Restaurant

Later we roamed around and happened upon Tasco, a gluten free Italian restaurant where we enjoyed lasagna and gluten free breads…. It revitalized us sufficiently to continue to explore our way back to Montparnesse to the Hotel Pullman.

The Paris: Haunted Pere Lachaise Cemetery guided tour provided a very interesting overview of Paris history. The cemetery is considered to be an open air museum. One of the notables buried here is Jim Morrison with tales of his burial site filled with ghost stories.

There are unique mausoleums and decorated burial plots.

And, of course, Oscar Wilde’s resting place.
